Smartphone technology is continually evolving to create faster download speeds and convenient, on-the-go applications. One breakthrough technology worth keeping an eye on is Helix's DNA app store. The San Francisco-based tech company secured over $100 million in investments last year in an effort to create an app store that would allow users to access to their own genetic information.

Hoping to create a larger market for DNA data, which can provide information about health risks and physical traits, Helix plans on releasing the program by next year. Those interested in purchasing a DNA app will have a spit sample collected, analyzed, and decoded. Initially, the app might only be able to answer certain genetic queries, but Helix's DNA data decoding should lead to the development of other DNA-related apps designed to address more varied queries.
